External Partner Program
External partner programs are facilitated through one of our 5 approved providers:
Our partners provide experiences for all majors, including intensive language, service, and internship opportunities. Certain programs may hold classes at a providerās center, or you may have the option to enroll directly in a university abroad. Placement is generally guaranteed if eligibility requirements are met. External partner programs are available in the fall, spring, and summer academic term.
Length
These programs can be a few weeks (summer) to a semester long (fall and spring).
Eligibility
To be eligible for a fall or spring external partner program, participants must be full-time, traditional students with a minimum 2.5 GPA. Participants must be classified as a sophomore or junior at ŠĀ²čÖ±²„ during time abroad. Additionally, students must be in good standing with ŠĀ²čÖ±²„ (academically, financially, health records, and conduct).
Summer external partner participants must meet the above requirements; however, summer opportunities are open to all classifications.
Academics
Students must enroll in a minimum of 12 credit hours while studying abroad during the fall or spring semester. Courses taken abroad must be approved prior to departure and will count toward your ŠĀ²čÖ±²„ GPA. Please choose a program that offers courses that mostly closely align with your degree plan. We strongly recommend students study abroad for a semester during sophomore year to allow for maximum course flexibility.
Summer programs do not have a credit minimum. Credits earned from summer are accepted as transfer credit.
Cost
The Office of International Education provides a list of ŠĀ²čÖ±²„-approved programs. You can browse available programs here. Approved direct programs start at $10,000 and are capped at $20,000.
Payment for these programs is conveniently made through TigerPay. External financial aid (Pell Grants, Lomax, OWSP, etc.) may be applied; however, institutional scholarships may not be utilized. Payment for summer external partners is made directly, and financial aid cannot be applied.
The Office of International Education provides a $1,200 stipend to directly support students in studying abroad for external partner programs. This stipend can be used once during a studentās ŠĀ²čÖ±²„ matriculation and can used for external partner programs.

Exchange
Overview
An exchange program provides ŠĀ²čÖ±²„ students to study abroad for a semester while an international student studies on the ŠĀ²čÖ±²„ campus. You will pay your normal ŠĀ²čÖ±²„ tuition, room, and board to receive the same accommodation at the institution abroad. This program is conducted through and spaces in these programs are limited.
Length
Exchange programs are a semester long. Currently, these programs are available for spring semester only.
Eligibility
Full-time, traditional student with a minimum GPA of 2.5. Classified as a sophomore or junior at ŠĀ²čÖ±²„ during time abroad. In good standing with ŠĀ²čÖ±²„ (academically, financially, health records, and conduct). Students who demonstrate significant financial need and those who receive institutional scholarships will be prioritized for the ISEP Exchange Program.
Cost
Both institutional and externally funded scholarships may be used to fund an exchange program. also offers its own scholarships to reduce costs.
Faculty-Led
Faculty-led programs allow students to travel for a shorter period of time with the support of ŠĀ²čÖ±²„ faculty and staff. Trips occur during winter break, J-Mester, spring break, and summer. This is a great option for students traveling internationally for the first time.
Length
Faculty-led programs range between 1-4 weeks.
Eligibility
Full-time, traditional students of any classification are eligible to participate in faculty-led programs. Please note, certain programs (ex. Spring Tour) may have classification restrictions. Graduating seniors are eligible for summer programs if travel dates do not coincide with commencement dates. GPA requirements vary depending on the individual program.
Academics
Some faculty-led programs offer academic credit or may be part of a ŠĀ²čÖ±²„ course.
Cost
Program fees include the roundtrip international flight, accommodation, ground transportation, travel insurance, and activities. Exact cost breakdowns can be found the study abroad program pages.
The Office of International Education offers an innovative subsidy to assist with program fees for students. Students with a Student Aid Index between -$1,500 and $52,544 can pay $1,000 for a 1-2 week program or $2,500 for a 3-4 week program. Students with a Student Aid Index of $52,545 or above can pay $2,000 for a 1-2 week program or $5,000 for a 3-4 week program.
Beginning in the 2024-25 academic year, the subsidy may be used once per academic year and up to twice during a ŠĀ²čÖ±²„ studentsā matriculation. Students are welcome to participate in additional faculty-led trips at the regular program cost. Program fees must be paid directly, and financial aid cannot be applied. We encourage students to browse the Financing Your Experience page for available scholarships.
